Cafes in Cork City that give a reusable cup discount

We’re a county of tea guzzlers and coffee sippers and you know what, we’re proud of it too. But what if there was a way of getting cheaper teas and coffees every time we decided that a cuppa was needed and help the environment while we’re at it.

Every day, around two million throwaway coffee cups are sent to landfill. Disposable cups are usually not recyclable. To make these cups waterproof, the card is fused with polyethylene, a material that cannot be separated out again in a standard recycling mill.

For the eco-aware, keep cups are the answer to reducing this incredible amount of waste. We’ve really taken to reusing shopping bags and bags for life since the introduction of the tax on plastic bags, so why don’t we do the same with reusable cups?

And cafes dotted around Cork City offer discounts for those who forego the disposable cup and bring their own keep cup. Many of these cafes have signed up to the Conscious Cup Campaign, and display its logo in their windows.
